How to open multiple point clouds

In NUBIGON, you can open multiple related point clouds as one or multiple octrees. Here we outline both workflows.

Option A: Open multiple point clouds as one octree

  • Click File > Open Point Cloud(s), select all point clouds, and generate octree.
  • You can choose multiple point cloud files in the same folder and generate one octree.
  • Once the octree is generated, you can set its display mode or toggle its visibility.

Option B: Open multiple point clouds as individual octrees

Step 1: Generate octree from the first point cloud

In the Octree Generation Settings, verify that the Offset type is set to Origin (in a new scene, it is set to Origin by default) and generate the octree of the first point cloud.

Step 2: Generate octree(s) from subsequent point clouds

  • In the Octree Generation Settings, verify that the Offset is set to Reference > Last point cloud (if there is already an octree in the scene, this option will be set by default) and generate the octrees of the other point clouds.
  • All octrees will be listed individually in the Object List.
  • You can now configure display modes and toggle the visibility of each octree individually.
  • This is particularly helpful in distinguishing different parts of a site.
