X-Ray mode

X-Ray mode for point clouds is a powerful feature that allows users to visualize and analyze the internal structures of their 3D models, offering enhanced transparency and clarity for visual inspection and evaluation.

X-Ray mode is not compatible with lighting.

Size

Increasing Size may sometimes be necessary to fill empty pixels, especially in high-resolution orthophotos. Beware: High values dramatically affect viewport render performance, so stick with the default value when navigating scenes.

Range

The Range parameter controls the brightness of points in the distance and the visibility of points nearby. It is checked by default. The larger the value, the brighter distant points will be, and the less visible the closer points will be.

Below is a comparison video showing the effect of the Range parameter on a long-range dataset.

Offset

Enabling the Offset option improves the rendering of overlapping point clouds and meshes by preventing z-fighting issues. Two surfaces within the Offset value are considered to be overlapping.

This enhancement offers a more integrated view of your models within a point cloud environment.

White point

The scene's exposure is automatically adjusted and can be further customized using the White point parameter. Increase it to reduce overexposure.

Silhouette

The Silhouette parameter emphasizes object outlines.

Invert

The default X-Ray mode displays dense areas as bright and sparse areas as dark, which is ideal when working with dark backgrounds. When working with light-colored backgrounds, enable Invert so dense areas are displayed dark and sparse areas are displayed bright.

The video below shows other default and inverted X-Ray comparisons for screenshots, orthophotos, and videos.
