You can select objects in the Object List or directly in the viewport.
Selection in the Object List
- Left-click on an item clears the current selection and selects the new item (and the associated object).
- CTRL+left-click on an item to add it to the selection. CTRL+left-click deselects the item if the item is already selected.
- SHIFT+left-click on an item selects all items between the current item and the clicked item.
- Left-click on an empty area in the Object List clears the current selection.
Selection in the Viewport
To select objects directly in the viewport, press & hold the ALT key while clicking on objects in the viewport:
- ALT+left-click on an object clears the current selection and selects the new object.
- ALT+CTRL+left-click on an object to add it to the selection. ALT+CTRL+left-click deselects the object if the object is already selected.
- ALT+left-click on an empty area in the viewport clears the current selection.
Box select
Box select allows you to select multiple objects within a rectangular area in the viewport:
- Press & hold the ALT key on the keyboard.
- Left-click (and hold) and drag the mouse cursor to define a rectangular area in the viewport.
- Release the left mouse button to select all objects inside this area.
Similarly, press & hold the CTRL key to add objects inside the rectangular area to the selection.
