Measurement overview

Launch the Measurement windowfrom the sidebar.


Contents


Distance

Horizontal

  1. Press & hold H or click the horizontal distance icon  to activate horizontal distance measurement between two points.
  2. The first left click defines the start point and the horizontal plane. 
  3. The projection of the second left click onto the horizontal plane defines the endpoint.
  4. Optionally repeat steps 2-3 to measure another distance.
  5. Release H, press Esc, or click the horizontal icon to end measuring.



Vertical

  1. Press & hold V or click the vertical distance icon  to activate vertical distance measurement between two points.
  2. The first left click defines the start point. 
  3. The projection of the second left click onto the z-axis through the first point defines the endpoint. 
  4. Optionally repeat steps 2-3 to measure another distance.
  5. Release V, press Esc, or click the vertical icon to end measuring.



Free

  1. Click the free distance icon  to activate distance measurement between any two points in the viewport.
  2. The first left click defines the start point
  3. The second left click defines the endpoint. 
  4. Optionally repeat steps 2-3 to measure another distance.
  5. Press Esc or click the free distance icon to end measuring.



Distance measurement attributes

Distance measurements will be represented in the Object List with . You can add a description in the Object Inspector.



Area

Polygon

  1. Press & hold P or click the polygon area icon  to activate area measurement.
  2. Left-click to define polygon vertices. 
  3. The first three vertices define the measurement plane. 
  4. Left-click on the first vertex to close the area. 
  5. Optionally repeat steps 2-4 to measure another area.
  6. Release P, press Esc, or click the polygon area icon to end measuring.



Rectangle

  1. Press & hold R or click the rectangle area icon  to activate area measurement.
  2. The first two left clicks define the first edge of the rectangle. 
  3. The third left click defines the rectangle.  
  4. Optionally repeat steps 2-3 to measure another area.
  5. Release R, press Esc, or click the rectangle area icon to end measuring.




Area measurement attributes

Area measurements will be represented in the Object List with . You can add a description in the Object Inspector.



Projection 

You can project free distance measurements and area measurements horizontally and vertically. Simply select the measurement from the Object List and press Vertical or Horizontal. Projections will create new distance or area measurements in the Object List.  



In the Measurement Preferences, you can customize the measurement units, line and text display parameters.  



Export 

To export measurements along with their optional descriptions: 

  • Select the measurements from the Object List. 
  • Go to File > Export > Export Measurements
  • Set the Unit. The default is Meters, but you can also switch to Feet
  • Enter your file name and press Save to export the file as CSV.
