Computing normal vectors

Normal vectors offer enhanced visual quality and precision. Here are two methods to compute them in NUBIGON:

Automatically compute normal vectors when opening point clouds

When opening a point cloud for the first time using File > Open Point Cloud(s) (i.e., generating an octree), normal vectors are calculated by default.

Once a point cloud has been converted to an octree, it’s no longer possible to compute its normals. They need to be computed during the conversion to octree.

Compute normal vectors for imported point clouds

For point clouds imported via the File > Import interface, you can compute normals using Edit Point Cloud > Normal Computation

Smoothness controls the roughness of the generated model. Higher values produce more smooth models.
